Glenda Hastings
Glenda Hastings has never met a stranger and her customers love her and her restaurant, Napa Café, for that very reason. Glenda’s heart of gold flourishes through the East Memphis dining establishment as she is the driving force behind Napa Café’s award-winning meals. Napa Café is known for its elegant yet comfortable atmosphere and most importantly, for the uplifting community involvement and giving back that has become synonymous with Napa Café.
Glenda and Napa Café have received numerous awards and accolades, including Gold Medal for Best Wine List, and Silver Medals for Best Restaurant, Best Service, Best Desserts, Best Salads, the Award of Excellence for Best Atmosphere in Memphis Magazine’s Restaurant Readers’ Poll and OpenTable’s 2019 Diner’s Choice Award. Napa Café also earned Wine Spectator Magazine’s coveted Award of Excellence for 15 years in a row.
Glenda is also the founder of Heart Full of Soul. Heart Full of Soul is a fundraiser supporting STAX Music Academy. It includes an exclusive multi-course dinner at Napa Café paired with wines and live music that is performed throughout the night by STAX Music Academy students. Through the Heart Full of Soul fundraiser Glenda has raised over $300,000 for STAX Music Academy.
Glenda is also the founder of Donna’s Table, a free, family-style Thanksgiving feast served to those who need it during the holidays. Glenda partners with Carpenter Art Garden to source Napa Café’s organic herbs and fresh vegetables. Carpenter Art Garden is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to working with the children of Binghampton to promote each one’s creativity and self-worth through exposure to artistic, educational, and vocational programs.
Glenda credits her work ethic and business acumen to her time working as a teenager for her parents’ landscape and transportation companies. The valuable lessons she learned there in accountability and determination transferred well to the restaurant business, which is where she found herself while pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry at the University of Memphis. As the owner of Napa Café for 26 years, Glenda has found that once the mathematics are in place, chemistry has no bounds when it comes to both new customers and the many regulars she considers extended family.
Glenda serves as a board member of Angel Street Memphis and the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Memphis, where she sponsors their annual Steak and Burger fundraiser. In her spare time, Glenda enjoys hiking, camping, Pure Barre, and yoga.
